Has anyone had success with dermal fillers for acne scaring? (deeper scars?)?
Dermal fillers help level the surface of your skin to make it appear smooth. But, dermal fillers are not permanent. They typically last 12 to 18 months. Then another application of filler needs to be introduced.
Question by carly: Has anyone had success with dermal fillers for acne scaring? (deeper scars?)? My scar is dented in and it’s on my nose. It has been there for over a year. I have had laser subcision and used gels/creams I have had little progress, and am about to try the dermal fillers with collagen.

Answer by zitdr_02 The use of dermal fillers for the deep acne scars, in which the sides of the scar are perpendicular to the surface (rather than the scalloped type scarring) is basically a failure. There is logiistically no way to put the filler material underneath the scar; but rather it either squirts up the pore, or migrates to the side of the scar, making it plump up and look even worse. If you have a solitary scar on the nose, and you’ve had a surgical subscission without success, then a punch graft may be an option for you.
